Chilean Families split into exile now living in Liverpool, Leeds, Spain and Sweden

This site aims to present the stories of Chileans  and the Chilean community who have lived in the Liverpool City Region since the seventies.

It will also tell the story of Chileans who came to the region as exiles from the military dictatorship and those who have come and made Liverpool their home. Some of the stories are about Chileans who have returned or moved to other places and have had an impact on Liverpool nd the community.

This is an Oral History Project and the stories are recounted by participants who tell their stories in their terms and share what they wish to share. As such this is in no way a complete representation of the Chilean community in the region, it is simply part of the full stories, told through the voices of the protagonists.

As the project progresses we will be creating an archive which will be held in the Archives department of Liverpool Central Library. We are also aiming to publish a book of the stories and create an exhibition that will go hand in hand with the book and archive.

This is a LUMA CREATIONS project. You can find out more about the organisation by going to:  www.lumacreations.org

It is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund
